Stepping Stones

(for parents and caregivers of children with additional needs, ages 0 to 12)  


Date: Thursday, Oct 5 - Nov 9, 2023 (3 sessions)

Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fees: $75.00 per person or $95.00 per couple

Learn how to: build positive relationships with your child, teach new skills, set rules and give clear instructions, respond to misbehaviour consistently and decisively, use positive discipline strategies, plan to avoid or manage potentially difficult situations. Stepping Stones is a Triple P Positive Parenting Program.

For families with children who have developmental delay, sensory or physical disabilities. A diagnosis is not required to participate.

Circle of Security

(for parents an caregivers of children ages 0 to 12)   


Date: Mondays, Oct. 16 - Dec 4, 2023 (8  sessions)

Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fees: $25.00 per individual or $45.00 per couple

Learn practical strategies to help confidently manage your child's behaviour, prevent problems, and build strong, healthy relationships. Triple P is a research-based parenting program with evidence to show it works.

My Tween and Me

(for parents along with their child ages 7 to 12)


Dates: Mondays, Oct. 23 - Nov. 27, 2023 (6 sessions)

Time: 5:30 - 7:00 PM (in PERSON @ 800 Point Rd)

Fee: FREE! (Funding provided by the WRHA and Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living)

My Tween & Me is a facilitated group program that provides parents and their tweens with the knowledge, tools and support they need during the child's transition to adolescence. This parent/child program will help you build lasting connections with your child and will help them make safe, healthy choices now and during the teen years.

Preschool and Toddler Series

(for parents and caregivers of children ages 0 to 5)

Thurs, Nov. 14: The Impact of Social Media on Parents
Thurs, Nov. 23: Power of Routines
Thurs, Nov. 30: Positive Redirection

Fees: FREE, courtesy of the Fort Garry / St. Norbert Healthy Child Coalition.

These 2 hour workshops will help you navigate the common challenges parents face when parenting a toddler. Learn valuable tips, strategies and communication tools to help your toddler manage their emotions and behaviour.

Safety Skills for Parents/Caregivers

(for parents, caregivers, grandparents,  and expectant parents)


Date: Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023

Time: 7:00 to 9:00 pm (in person)

Fees: $30.00 per individual

This workshop will cover common hazards for babies and toddlers. Using the idea that “if you can predict it, you can prevent it,” we will talk about ways to be better prepared both at home and out in the world to keep our precious little one safe. Topics included are falls, choking, and car seat safety. You will learn infant choking rescue and CPR.

Participants will receive a Home Safety booklet. Come with your safety questions.

Parenting and the Screen Time Dilemma

(for parents and caregivers)


Date: Thursdays, Nov. 23 and Nov. 30, 2023 (2 sessions)

Time:
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fees: $25.00 per individual or $45.00 per couple

This workshop will look at the ins and outs of cell phones and computers in parenting a technology based generation.

Topics include: appropriate screen time for each age group, internet safety, cell phone expectations and how to work together with your child to navigate ever changing technology. 

Red Cross Emergency First Aid

(for people ages 16 and up)


Date: Saturday, Nov, 25, 2023

Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (in person)

Fees: $95.00

This course covers how to respond to emergencies, choking rescue and breathing emergencies, CPR/AED, wound care and first aid for opioid poisoning emergencies.

This course is designed to cover basic lifesaving first aid and is the level required for most jobs requiring first aid certification.

Face mask included.

Parent Educator 1-on-1 Appointments

(for parents and caregivers)

Fee: $45.00 per 1 hour appointment only

This individual one-to-one appointment with Lori Chrol, SWFIC Parent Educator, will provide you with an opportunity to focus on challenges you are experiencing with your child.

Lori Chrol is a parent educator with over 30 years of experience leading parenting workshops at South Winnipeg Family Information Centre. Beginning as a parent participant herself, Lori has been trained and certified to lead a variety of programs including many forms of Triple P Positive Parenting, How to Talk so Kids will Listen, Nobody's Perfect Parenting, Positive Discipline, and Circle of Security.

Annually through her work at South Winnipeg Family Information Centre Lori provides guidance to over 400 parents/caregivers to help them improve communication, manage difficult behaviours and strengthen relationships within their families.
