These 2 hour workshops will help you navigate the common challenges parents face when parenting a toddler. Learn valuable tips, strategies and communication tools to help your toddler manage their emotions and behaviour. Feel free to register for one session or as many as you like! Winter 2023 Parenting Programs

Triple P Select - Positive Parenting Program

(for parents of children ages 0 to 12) 


Dates:
Mondays, Jan. 30 - Feb. 13, 2023 (3 sessions)

Time/Location: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fee: $35.00 per person or $55.00 per couple

Learn practical strategies to help confidently manage your child's behaviour, prevent problems, and build strong, healthy relationships. Triple P is a research-based parenting program with evidence to show it works.

Anxiety in Children

(for parents of children with anxiety*)


Dates: Thursdays, Feb. 16 to Mar. 2, 2023 (3 sessions)

Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fees: $35.00 per person or $55.00 per couple

Do you have a child who is anxious? Looking for ways to help? This three evening workshop will explore what anxiety is, the different types of anxiety and their signs and symptoms, and strategies to support and help a child who is struggling with anxiety.

*No proof of diagnosis is required. The program is not intended for assessment.

Dads Matter

(for dads, grandfathers, and caregivers)


Dates: Tuesdays, Feb. 21 - Mar. 14, 2023 (4 sessions)

Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fees: FREE

Join us for a live, interactive meeting on ZOOM  to connect with other parents and discuss parenting challenges and fatherhood. There will be a focus on "Things Dads Do," the importance of fathers in the lives of children, and ways to have fun with your child at their different ages and stages.

Communicating with Your Preteen

(for parents of children ages 8 and up)


Dates: Mondays, Feb. 27 - Mar. 13, 2023 (3 sessions)

Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fees: $45 per person or $65 per couple

Strong communication between parents and children affects the relationships between them. Parents will learn what influences preteen and teen behaviour. Topics include; improving communication, encouraging cooperation, disciplining effectively, and building a better relationship with your preteen!

Circle of Security Parenting

(for parents of children ages 0 to 12)


Dates: Thursdays, Mar. 16 to May 4, 2023 (8 sessions)

Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (on ZOOM)

Fees: $20.00 per person

Children who feel more secure often have increased empathy, healthy self-esteem, positive relationships, and a greater ability to manage their emotions more effectively. Learn new ways to understand, and respond to, your child's needs and behaviours, that help to increase the emotional security of your children.

The Regional Health Authority with the support of Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living is pleased to provide this funding support for the important services/programs provided by the South Winnipeg Family Information Centre.

Raising a Healthy Eater

(for parents of children ages 1 to 6)


Date: Wednesday, Apr. 26, 2023. (Postponed from Mar. 8, 2023)

Time: 1:30 to 3:30 pm (in PERSON)

Fees: FREE - Funding provided by the WRHA and Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living

Led by a registered dietitian, discuss tips and strategies that address common challenges and concerns when feeding your child. Topics include; division of responsibility, picky eating, and how to make meal time more enjoyable for everyone.

This program will be held in person, in South Winnipeg Family Information Centre at 800 Point Road. Childminding available - limited spaces.

Parent Educator 1-on-1 Appointments

(for parents and caregivers)

Fee: $45.00 per 1 hour appointment only

This individualized one on one service will provide you, in your role as parent, with an opportunity to focus on challenges you are experiencing with your child.

All online programs will be held on ZOOM, unless specified otherwise. A ZOOM account is not needed to participate. The facilitator will send you a ZOOM link via email, a couple of days prior to the course start date.
