TRIPLE P – POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM (SELECT SEMINAR SERIES)

For Parents of Children ages 0 to 12
Learn simple and practical strategies to help confidently manage your children’s behaviour, prevent problems, and build strong, healthy relationships. Triple P is a research-based parenting program with evidence to show it works.

Dates: Thursdays, for 3 weeks, September 28, October 5 and October 12
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Fee: $35.00 per person or $50.00 per couple

TRIPLE P STEPPING STONES

For Parents of Special Needs Children ages 12 and under
Learn how to: Build positive relationships with your child, teach new skills, set rules and give clear instructions, respond to misbehaviour consistently and decisively, use discipline strategies, plan to avoid or manage potentially difficult situations. For families with children who have developmental delay, sensory or physical disabilities. A diagnosis is not required to participate.

Dates: Thursdays, for 6 weeks, from January 11 to February 15 
Time: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Fee: $65.00 per person or $85.00 per couple (limited space available)

 

HOW TO TALK SO KIDS WILL LISTEN

For Parents of Children ages 3 to 10
This 5 week program will provide parents with the skills to improve the quality of their every day relationships with their children. Topics covered include: Helping children deal with their feelings, learning how to problem solve, engaging cooperation, alternatives to punishment, encouraging autonomy and more!

Dates: Mondays, for 5 weeks, from October 16 to November 13
Time: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Fee: $55.00 per person or $75.00 per couple (limited space available) 

 

BLENDED FAMILIES

For Step Parents
This 3 week workshop will examine the challenges of living in a step family and will provide parenting information and coping strategies.

Dates: Thursdays, for 3 weeks, November 16, November 23, and November 30
Time: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Fee: $45.00 per person or $65.00 per couple

 

UNDERSTANDING CONFLICT SERIES:

CONFLICT AND YOUR LIFE (Session 1)
What is conflict? In this class we will define conflict, explore how you view conflict and why, and learn a few communication tips to help you reduce the conflict in your life.

CONFLICT AND YOUR FAMILY (Session 2)
Learn about why family conflict is different than other conflicts. Discuss your role in your family and explore different family situations and dynamics. Learn a few techniques to maneuver family conflict.

CONFLICT IN YOUR COMMUNITY (Session 3)
In this final part of the series, we will discuss where conflicts are occurring in the communities we belong to, and will learn about what can be done to come to a resolution.

Dates: Tuesdays, for 3 weeks, November 14, November 21 and November 28
Time: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Fee: $45.00 per person or $65.00 per couple 

 

NOBODY’S PERFECT

FREE 6 week Parent and Child program with childminding provided – courtesy of The Fort Garry/St Norbert Healthy Child Coalition

For Parents along with their Children ages 0 to 6
Meet with other parents of young children, share questions, concerns and ideas about being a parent, learn about child development, safety, health and behavior, discuss real-life parenting solutions, discover positive ways of parenting.

CIRCLES FOR RECONCILIATION – A CALL TO ACTION

FREE 10 week sharing circle hosted by South Winnipeg Family Information Centre and presented by Circles for Reconciliation

What does Truth and Reconciliation mean to you, your organization, your community, your family? Please join our sharing circle where 5 Indigenous and 5 non-Indigenous participants will meet to discuss how to promote reconciliation. These circles help us understand how we as individuals can help to create more respectful relations between all Canadians. All circles will be held in a safe setting and lead by a trained facilitator.
