Basics for Babysitters
This one day, 6.5 hour workshop is designed to provide students in Grades 6 (and up) with the skills required to become certified babysitters. Topics covered will include simple first aid, stages of child development, dealing with strangers, keeping children happy and the rights of employers/employees. Students must be 12 years old within two months of the workshop. Please bring a bag lunch, remember - no nuts. Register early as this workshop fills up quickly!

Ready, Set, Solo!
(For children 11 years and up) When is a child ready to stay home alone? When they have the skills to safely handle situations that might arise. This three-hour workshop for parents and children, 11 years and older, outlines steps to ensure kids know how to be safe on their own. Topics covered include family rules, basic first aid, feelings and fears, and dealing with strangers. The goal is to provide children with the confidence and skills needed to manage short periods of time at home alone - and reassure parents their children are ready for this next developmental step.

Saturday, November 6th 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Sunday, November 7th 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Fee: $35.00 per family

Student Study Skills
Some kids learn best by taking notes, others by listening and some by moving their bodies. This 2.5 hour workshop, for students, will provide them with tips and tools to be more prepared for tests and school work. They will learn organizational skills and identify their preferred learning style (visual, auditory, tactile). Students will also learn how to make the best use of their time.
