The 'Basics for Babysitting' course is a 6.5 hour training program for students ages 12 and over. This program was designed to instill confidence in students, new to babysitting, by providing comprehensive instruction around topics such as:
• Characteristics of a good babysitter
• Rights and Responsibilities of Employer and Employee
• Understanding and caring for infants/toddlers/pre-school
and school-age children
• Accident prevention
• Dealing with illness and other problems
• Basic First Aid procedures
Last year alone, our Centre provided training to over 1,200 students. Youth who graduate from the 'Basics for Babysitters' program are more confident, better prepared, and more fully understand the responsibilities involved in childcare.
Simply choose your course date and call us to book your date! Ordinarily a volunteer from the community would run the course; however, if you prefer, we can provide a program facilitator for an additional fee. We offer training free of charge to volunteers who wish to lead the Basics for Babysitters course within your school community. For only $25.00 per student, each participant will receive a Student Manual, test and certificate as well as the complimentary use of our Babysitting Resource Kit and Instructional Videos.
