Who Are We?
South Winnipeg Family Information Centre (SWFIC) is a non-profit, community based family resource centre. We deliver programs and services which are designed to empower individuals to enhance relationships within their families and communities. We are a United Way of Winnipeg partner agency which receives its vision and strategic direction from a volunteer Board of Directors.
What We Do:
South Winnipeg Family Information Centre offers parenting programs for everyone to help people gain skills to strengthen relationships and improve communication within the family. Our programs and services happen in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Programs range from a single session workshop on a particular topic to multi-week discussion based groups. One-on-One parent educator appointments are available where you can focus on a specific concern.
We provide opportunities for your children to develop and build life skills through our Ready, Set, Solo!, Basics for Babysitters and Student Study Skills workshops here. We work with schools and community groups to offer Babysitter Training classes at their location reaching over 1300 students each year.
The Clothes Closet program provides work appropriate clothing to women in need, to help them make a new start. Clients access this service by appointment through referral from education and training programs, and social service agencies across Winnipeg. Twice each year a fundraising sale of gently used women’s clothing is held to support the program.
